ABS 3D Printing Filament

ABS, stands for acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, now that's a mouthful. While ABS is arguably the second most popular polymer. ABS became popular because it was strong, but it's notoriously fickle to work with. It's prone to shrinkage and warping and almost always requires an enclosure for your printer to achieve good-quality results. Although the temperature variance issue that causes warping can be somewhat mitigated by the use of a cure's draft shield option or something similar.

While prints made with ABS are extremely strong and durable. You know just how tough this filament can be if you've ever stepped on a LEGO. ABS prints best between 210 and 260 degrees Celsius, usually near the higher end, and a heated bed is required. An enclosure is also highly recommended.

Another upside to ABS is the fact that it's soluble in certain solutions, which means it can be chemically welded together to make seamless objects.
